TESK, having the attribute of one of the biggest non-governmental organizations, it is the only voluntary vocational organization that undertakes important tasks and responsibilities in vocational training subjects.  According to this purpose the following activities are performed;

-      Apprenticeship training is provided and an amount of share is allocated for this from their income.

-      In order to improve the tradesmen and craftsmen’ vocational training and to provide them with finance, the Found of Supporting and Improving Tradesmen and  Craftsmen Vocational Training has been launched.

-      Central Workplace Investigation and Consultancy Group have been established under the TESK body, in order to secure uniformity and  harmonise with  workplace and consultancy groups’ works  besides it aims to find solutions that groups  may confront

-      Training directorates are available within the body of organization units, in order to provide and improve training.

-      Workplace investigation and consultancy groups have been established under the TESK body, in order to improve the training quality provided.

-      Assistant, master, and craftsman certificate are given. 

As having The Vocational Training and Technology Centers (METEM)-, in which the professional training is provided, established in order to help the tradesmen and craftsmen and small business’ and their employers’ occupational improvement and adaptation to new technologies, besides of providing complementary training for the young students since the deficiencies in their practical training occurs due to the inadequate substructures of workplaces.


The issues that have arisen primarily from the 5262 numbered law and its regulations, and also issues that caused from other related regulations, are examined according to the developing and changing conditions, and by preparing the suggestions for possible solutions, necessary actions are taken through the proper quarters.


For the purpose of publish and keep in a secure and correct way tradesman and craftsman registries are saved to electronic environment, under the supervision of the civil of first instance dealing with trade cases and to work within the boundaries of the administrative board of the province where they are, tradesman and craftsman registry departments set up in tradesman and craftsman chamber union. At tradesman and craftsman registry departments being a business, closing and changing process can be done.
For the end of March 2012;
The number of registered tradesman and craftsmen is 1.980.974
The number of ongoing activity chamber is 3.110.


Taxes, laws and regulations that are matter of tradesmen and craftsmen’ concerns are followed up, changes are announced, possible solutions to problems experienced are searched for, and necessary actions are taken through the proper quarters. Consultancy services are provided to aid tax related problems of the organization.


Instructive studies are carried out to help tradesmen and craftsmen to be informed about their rights related to and liabilities for social security subjects, and by determining the problematic points in social security system, necessary studies are performed on behalf of the organization’s members.


Informative studies are carried out explaining the current system in order the long-term solutions for the existing financial problems of tradesmen and craftsmen to be found, and necessary actions are taken both to provide them with access to credit or financial support they need to use, under the proper conditions, and also to achieve overall improvements in the related general conditions.


During the ongoing negotiations between EU and our country, acquis communitaire related to tradesmen and craftsmen are investigated, joint projects are entered into and performed, under the scope of EU programs, by inter-cooperating with equivalent organizations of other countries, and necessary opinions and suggestions related to EU subjects are submited to the legal authorities.

TESK has been subscribed for International Artisans and SME organizations  in order to improve competitive capacity of tradesmen and craftsmen and to enable them perform their activities in international platforms. Studies carried out by those organizations and other international organizations are participated. In the execution of those activities, extension of the tradesmen and craftsmen’ vision, implementation of the best practices and best model applications, establishment of innovative approaches are aimed. Developments and innovations that can be conveniently adapted into working conditions are followed, and related laws and regulations and model applications of other countries are investigated.


Studies are carried out in the large extent in order to enable women in our country to participate in the production processes and in order to cover them under the shelter of social security organization. Within this frame, as the project of developing women enterprise capacity by funded of EU has been implemented successfully, activities are maintained under the scope of available conditions.


For the purpose of helping the represented tradesmen and craftsmen, improve their ability to adapt to developing conditions and to improve their competitive and organizational capacity, projects have being prepared and incorporated studies have being executed under the scope of programs supported by primarily EU and by other international organizations.


The majority of 47,000 food product manufacturers and 400,000 sale and collective consumption workplaces in our country are the tradesmen and craftsmen organized under the umbrella of our Confederation. Accordingly, the operations with regard to the food sector have an essential share among the operations of our Confederation.

Within the European Union full membership process, reliable food increasingly becomes a concept gaining more importance; both new regulations are brought almost every day in legal terms and consumers increasingly become conscious on this matter. Therefore, it is important for our tradesmen and craftsmen engaging in food-related occupations to be informed and to adopt the conception giving particular importance to the public health and consumer satisfaction at the workplaces.

Within this scope; there have been drawn up Hygiene Practice Guides aiming at leading our tradesmen and craftsmen operating in the food sector and other workplaces in the sector in order to provide reliable food in each stage of the process including the production, maintenance and submission of the food to the consumer.

Furthermore, the regulations with respect to the food legislation are followed up, the amendments are declared, the solutions concerning the problems of our tradesmen and craftsmen operating in the food sector are searched, and the attempts are made at the level of relevant authorities.


In line with the amendments made in the General Communiqué on Customs by the Ministry of Customs and Trade, the authorization for the printing and distribution of A.TR Movement Certificates and Origin Demonstration Certificates (Certificate of Origin, EUR.1 Movement Certificate, EUR.MED Movement Certificate, Form A Certificate) to be used in export by the tradesmen and craftsmen has been granted to our Confederation and the authorization for the approval of the same to the Unions of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen. In this way, our tradesmen and craftsmen can export with the mentioned certificates.  


For our tradesmen and craftsmen to be able to turn into an organizational structure and to compete both internal and external market, our Confederation carries out operations for creating the industrial property awareness.


The capacity reports necessary for the operations of the tradesmen and craftsmen and required to be submitted to the relevant authorities, indicating the machinery and installation, the annual production capacity, the annual consumption capacity and capacity calculations, and capital and employment information of the tradesmen and craftsmen operating in the trade, construction and service sectors as well as their contact information, and valid for 3 years as of the date of approval are confirmed in electronic environment.


Upon the rapid opening of our national economy to foreign countries, the confrontation of our exported goods with problems in terms of labeling and identification in the external markets has caused the application of the BARCODE system widely used in the world to be a requirement in our country as well. Based on this requirement, it was allowed for our tradesmen and craftsmen to obtain barcode by the protocol signed between our Confederation and TOBB on 20/11/1996. Within this framework, the application documents of the tradesmen and craftsmen who apply to our Confederation for barcode are examined, forwarded to TOBB and the results thereof are followed up by our Confederation.


According to the authority granted by and liabilities obligated by Law and pertaining to the protection of both the tradesmen and craftsmen’s interests and consumer rights, and also in alignment with principle of fulfillment the liabilities, consumer claims are examined and evaluated within the frame of related laws and regulations.
